VIA6421 controller buggy?

I think the VIA6421 SATA controller may be buggy. I have a 6421 PCI card that works with a WD5000AAKS just fine, but throws CRC errors and gets very low throughput with a WD15EARS attached. Jumpering the WD15EARS to SATA150 doesn't help. Maybe it doesn't like high-capacity drives or has a problem with 4k sectors.

Nice thread on this chip over at the freebsd forums. I'll keep using it for now, but I think SIL3132/SIL3124 is a better chipset.
