For FreeBSD 8.0 if you add
ahci_load="YES" to your /boot/loader.conf you'll be good to go. I don't think you need to actually enable AHCI in the bios, but it doesn't hurt.

D510UD AHCI support
Turns out the GIGABYTE GA-D510UD does support AHCI on all four sata ports, but you need to have verison f4 of the bios.
